I just finished another book and what I find so fascinating is my hunger for knowledge continues to grow each day. When I read these books, I imagine myself sitting in a classroom learning from some of the most inspiring teachers. It’s like attending college without the cost. The best part is you choose the subjects to study. How cool is that!

There are days when you will feel like you are headed backwards. It’s on days that those when our faith has to carry us along. You have to know that whatever purpose or meaning to what you are do IS working it’s magic behind the scenes. You will not always see the results you want to see. Also remember, if whatever you are compelled to do in life was easy, everyone would do it!

I worked with a civilian contractor early in my military career. Whenever I would say “life sucks”, Mrs. Brown would reply back with, “life is what you make it.” Now more than 25 years later, I finally understand what she was trying to say. What we choose to focus on, is what we attract, whether “good” or “bad”. In other words, like Facebook, once you begin a search, it will continue to feed your timeline with similar posts.

Look for ways to get around the obstacles to your success. The great thing about an obstacle in life is that you can get around them and/or learn from them. If you are focused and determined to achieve a specific goal in, an obstacle is just a speed bump, a detour or a delay. There is nothing that can stop a determined soul.

When what you are doing out weighs the need for approval, you know you are on to something. In the book, The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles, he states the key to a rich life is having a vision, keeping the mind fixed on the purpose, believing with unshakable faith and maintaining a deep sense of gratitude. Keep striving to be the best version of yourself.

We are just about two weeks away from the end of the year. Now is the perfect time to take inventory of what worked for you this year and what you should consider changing for next year. I like to call it, The Year End Reflection. This is also a great time to plan out your goals for next year, both professional or personal. Let’s bring in 2017 with gratitude in our hearts and goals on our minds.

I learned to celebrate the victories no matter the size. It is the little victories along the way that provide the motivation to keep going. Yesterday, I reached 50 likes on this blog site. When I started, I could not even come up with a steady topic to write about. I know that every little victory is leading to a big win. The hardest part is just to start!

I used to argue, fuss and fight to voice my opinion. Those days are long gone. People are quick to offer up opinions based on what “they” believe. For example, if someone says that something you want to do is “impossible” it is based on the opinion that it is impossible for “them”. Realizing this, instead of arguing, I allow folks to “keep” their opinion and I go about with my own. I just say “watch me!”

In life, the most precious gift we have been given is time so don’t waste it on contemplating what your “not” good at. Take time and take an inventory list of all the things you are good at. What make you you. Once you have your list, keep it handy. Life starts to open up when we play to our strengths, rather than your weaknesses.

Develop a panoramic view of your life. In Stephen Covey’s book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People he offers up the thought to begin with the end in mind. What is it you want to be remembered for? What do you want people to say about you? With a panoramic view you can take in so much more of life and develop into a bigger, more expanded version of yourself as well.
