    Keep Playing

Kids-playing-video-game-97577269My son likes to play the first person games like Call of Duty and Gears of War. I used to play games like Centipede, Q*bert and Pac Man growing up (telling my age).

The key in playing and winning in any game is to gain the necessary skills in order to “rank up” to the next level. If you don’t learn the fundamentals of the game that you are playing, you are not going to last long in playing the game.

No one starts out as an expert but as you learn how to play and build up your garage, your weapons or your gear in the games we play, the better chance you have of winning.

Don’t let life beat you down, build up your skills and your arsenal and keep playing.

  • The Missing Ingredient

    The Missing Ingredient

28057_recipebook-closeupI was never much into cooking and I still not, but I am a little bit more willing to look for new recipe ideas to try. There are so many websites that offer you recipes and tips that there really is no need to have a cookbook any more. You can create your own.

I think the missing ingredient to creating a wonderful life, is the desire to learn. There are books, seminars, classes, websites, etc that are available for you to find in whatever subject you are looking for. Continue to feed your hunger for learning and quench your thirst for knowledge. Strive to be a lifetime learner.

  • With The Flow

    With The Flow

fast-riverI believe. I trust. I let go. Those three statements are written on a Post-It note that I have taped up in my wardrobe closet so I can see them everyday I as I get dressed.

I believe that we have to set clear intentions of what we would like. What does success look like to you? Live life on your idea of what success means for you.

I trust that the Universe will provide us not only with what we want but what we need to grow and flourish in life.

And lastly, I let go of how I think everything “should” go. Set your goals, but stay open to the possibilities that life is offering up. Let life flow.

  • The Art of Asking

bigstock-thoughtful-man-question-markHad a conversation t other day and the person I was speaking with was telling me that they had to look for a second job. Being the inquisitive person that I am, I asked why. They wanted extra money for and upcoming trip. I then asked, have you talked with anyone else that is traveling with you to coordinate who was taking care of what. They said no.

Why do we feel like we have to take on the whole world by ourselves. The wonderful thing about human nature is our desire to help. By asking for what your need you are more likely to get the kind of help that you want. No one is a mind reader and no one can help you if you don’t say something.
I learned the hard way, the answer is either yes or no. Like I have said before, a 50/50% chance better than a 100% chance of NO.

  • Tidbit of Insight

    Tidbit of Insight

tai-chiInsight comes like a tweet, if you are not paying attention you just might miss it.

I was talking with a friend this afternoon and she was sharing that her Tai Chi instructor told the class that if you are having trouble with your physical balance, it’s because your not focused. My friend said she never realized that. I was taken back because my friend is one of the most conscious thinking type person I know. She is my spiritual sister. We both laughed and I told her we’ve discussed this subject before and that she must not have been paying attention and laughed.

What I know in my experience is that whatever it is you are looking for your will surely find. The key is your awareness. Make time to quiet your thoughts each day and everyday you will begin to pick up tidbits of insight that the Universe is trying to share with you.

  • Staying the Course

    Staying the Course

Run to successEveryone is a critic. We choose what we like and what we don’t like every moment of each day.

I just recently started posting short video messages on my Instagram and I received a few lukewarm responses to it. At first I was a little disappointed and pondered the idea of maybe not posting any more but then I thought, everyone has the right to express their opinion including me. If I stop now because of a few opinions of others I am basically saying I value their opinion over mine. Learning how to handle criticism is a part of the journey and I will not turn back now. I will and I hope you also stay the course.

  • Paddling Together

    Paddling Together

02-canoeing-manigotagan-river-manitobaI was talking with a friend this evening about relationships and some how I recalled a time I was on vacation where I was on a canoe trip. It was a two person canoe and I was in the bow (the front) and the other person was in the stern (the rear). What was suppose to be a fun little excursion, turned into a heated exchange between two very frustrated people.
There were three major factors at play. First there was no clear direction as to where we were going. Second, there was no communication and third, our paddling was off.
Thinking back on that incident I realized what I learned from the canoe trip can be helpful in maintaining any relationship. Here’s what I learned, if any two people have different agendas there is no focal point or goal to work towards together. Without effective communication, there is no understanding and neither person knows what the other person is doing. Lastly, if your paddling is off, you’re going nowhere. Timing is everything.

  • The Question

    The Question

question-markOn Instagram the other day, someone asked me if I love money. My answer was “No, I don’t love money, I love the freedom that money brings.”

I am learning to live with the money I have on hand right now which I have found does provide enough freedom for me to live the life I choose right now. I have the freedom to do morning walks because I don’t need to rush to a job. I have the freedom to workout because I have electricity play the workout DVDs.

I could go on but the point is, I could always use more money but I also notice and appreciate the freedom I already enjoy because of having it.

    So… Do you love money?

  • The Hardest Job

    The Hardest Job

redcarpetA few years ago I used to manage social media accounts for a few Hollywood clients. I had an amazing time traveling back and forth to California to work the red carpet events. It wasn’t until one evening at an event that I had a thought : Why am I so focused on following behind people who are busy following their dreams? That’s when I decided to stop working for other people and start focusing on me. I closed down my social media business and took time out to work on and discover the true me. I must admit, it has been by far one of the best yet hardest jobs I ever done. Working on yourself may not make you rich but it does have the greatest return on investment.

  • Fly Free

    Fly Free

bird_escaping_from_cage_1787270I had two lovebirds for almost 13 years until one bird died last year. The one remaining bird sits in the cage and sings when he hears the outside birds when the windows and the doors are open. The cage is the only thing he has ever known. I share this because the other day on my walk, I passed an injured bird that looked like it was gasping it’s last breathe. Despite the dangers and the uncertainties that life offers there is a sense of freedom that life offers when we choose to fly. Some of us are living life safe and sound in a cage like the lovebird. If the cage door was opened, would you be willing to leave it?
