Quite often we put a hold on our dreams based on the conversation that someone may have said to you that “you can’t do that.” When you hear that phrase “you can’t” it actually means “they can’t” and that is true. Only you can do you with the gifts and talents that are within you. Develop those talents and gifts in order to live the best possible life for you on your terms, not by someone else’s.

There are times in life when there will be two things that we may want but are not be able to decide which one is the one we should hold onto and which one do we let go of. When I was watching my granddaughter the other a day, she had her pacifier in her mouth when she tried to put the bottle in her mouth at the same time. She would not take the pacifier out of her mouth. I laughed and asked her, which one baby? “You can’t have the bottle and keep the pacifier in your mouth.” So often life offers up choices to us. When it comes to choosing things that will help us grow in life remember, we can’t gain new insight holding onto old thinking. To grow and thrive, we can’t eat with a pacifier in our mouth.
Self-confidence is an attractive vibe. There is something about a person who enter a room and their confidence radiates. To me self-confidence means your are not afraid to share your vision with the world or needing the approval of others to be who your are. So many of us are afraid of letting our light shine. The beauty of being human is, we all have the capability to develop this kind of self-confidence that others stop and take notice of. Don’t try and change the world until you are ready to change yourself and let your light shine bright!
A friend of mine prescribed a teaspoon of mustard to help me fight my cold. I took her advice and felt so much better. I wanted to know why she recommended mustard, so I Googled: mustard for colds. Check this out, “As a warming herb, mustard seed will encourage perspiration that can lower fevers and cleanse the body of toxins. This will help the body fight colds and flu.” My first instinct was to grab over-the-counter medicine but I wanted something natural. I love natural remedies but I do not have a passion for learning that subject, but I have friends who do. As in life, there are always different ways to accomplish something. Learn to let go of your notion of having to be right or wrong and stay open to new possibilities.
Everyone has a story but not everyone is willing to share their story, and that’s the sad part. Everyone can learn something from the experiences we are willing to share. There are lessons learned and insights that help paint a bigger picture of this big beautiful thing called life. Your story just may be the piece to someone else’s puzzle.
I recently read an article about overcoming obstacles. The author gave four tips with embracing self-awareness as the first tip. “If you don’t see the obstacle or believe it’s a hindrance, you’ll never reach your goals, blaming everything and everyone but the person responsible.” In other words, you can’t change what you are not willing to confront. Change begins with you. As Mahatma Gandhi so eloquently stated, “We need to be the change we wish to see in the world.”
Our actions always speak louder than words and integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Words are powerful by themselves but when they are backed by your actions that is when people really take notice. When we do not honor our words with our action, yes, other people may not notice but the one person most affected, is you. Even when you think no one is watching, stay true and honest with yourself.
I love a road trip. The great thing about a road trip is you can calculate your rest stops or food breaks based on the mileage and time it will take for you to get to the next big city. How nice it would be in life if we could know how far we had to go to accomplish our dreams? We can, and that is the beauty of goals. Your goals are the cities along the way to your final destination. Enjoy your journey.
