  • The Shake Up

    The Shake Up

p17iitan6r8a516uv1fqj2pp1dhi7Many times when we think life is not going our way, is the time that life is redirecting you. We can get so catch up doing things in such a manner that is simply becomes a routine. The change up offers new possibilities that you could have missed without it. You may not see the blessing in the mess but once the smoke clears, that is when it’s time to look for the new opportunities. Life shakes you up to wake you up.

    Something Magical

magic_color_screensaver-468325-1314235038Your charm and personality will open doors for you but what will keep you there is your character. One of my favorite quotes is by Mr. Jim Rohn, “work harder on yourself than you do on your job.” Personal development is an ongoing process that will have a huge impact on your life. Once you realize just how valuable you are, others seem to pick up on it too. There is something magical in the air!

    An Open Road

OpenRoadWhat I have learned over the past few months is that if we can get beyond what you “see” of a person, you may just find out that you have more in common with them then you think. The universe will bring people in and out of your life to help you along this journey. What we think we know just might be the thing that is holding you back in having the success you are desiring. Stop thinking and just sit back and enjoy the ride.

    What’s Your Super Power?

Super HeroHave you discovered you superpower yet? We all have gifts and talents that are unique as each of us. A few questions to start asking may be, what makes your heart sing? What can you do easily that others struggle with? What do you enjoy doing even if you didn’t get paid for it? Each and every one of us has something special and unique to offer. The terrible thing to do is to live your life and never take time to discover it.

  • Success Re-Examined

    Success Re-Examined

success-secret-jpgIn the past, if anyone asked me what do you think success looks like, I would have said “lots of money, fancy cars and big houses”. I was waiting for something “spectacular” to happen. I had to stop and ask, what does success mean to me? It will look and feel different to each of us. The key factor is to take a moment to examine what is success to you. You will never “be” successful when you base it on other people’s standards.

  • Seasons of Change

    Seasons of Change

seasons-change_3231387594e251ebTo make room for anything new we have to clear out the old. For instance, I adopted the habit of clearing out my closet at the same time the seasons change. In the past, I would hold on to things I no longer wore because they didn’t fit our they were just unfashionable. It simply cluttered up space. I would buy storage bins but over time I would forget what I placed in them and they would take up space. Like our closets, we have to clear out some of our old thoughts and ideas in order to prepare for the new season. In order to grow we have to learn to let go.

  • Give and Take

    Give and Take

giving-adviceLike many of us, at times I get depressed, frustrated or “down in the dumps.” To get though these moments we first have to become aware of these feelings in order to let them go and move forward. I try and recall some of the advice I have given to friends. In most cases, if the advice is good enough to give, it has to be good enough to take. There are always two people in the conversation, the one you are talking to and the one who is doing the talking. Next time you give out advice to someone, ask yourself if you would you take it too?

  • Moving Forward

    Moving Forward

giant_snowball_oxfordI recently attended a strategic planning meeting where the organizer had us break into smaller groups to identify an action we wanted to implement. There were four steps to completing the exercise. In our small group, we could not make it past step two which was offer up a solution. We got hung up on the “big picture” that we didn’t even consider starting small and working up. Like a rolling snowball, even if you initially start small, you can build upon your ideas and gain momentum. Every small step still moves you forward.

    And The Winner Is…

Star award against gradient backgroundBest supporting actress in a drama used to be me. I would love to argue for argument sake. I learned eventually that not all disagreements are invitations to an argument. It’s like watching my dog bark like crazy at a squirrel in the neighbor’s yard collecting it’s food. The dog is using all of it’s energy on something that is not making a difference to the squirrel. Sometimes we get all worked up in trying to change someone else’s opinion or action rather than working on what is in our control, ourselves.

  • Test Yourself

    Test Yourself

pass-or-failThe best way to determine if you are on the right path for you, is to see how you handle the “tough” moments. What are some “tough moments? They may be when people will share their opinion whether solicited or not. They will offer up their idea of how you should do things. In most cases they are not trying to be hurtful but rather helpful, not saying this is always true in every situation. The beauty of knowing who you are and what you want allows you to choose your response. Test yourself and see if you are or are not threatened by someone else’s opinion.
