  • Roll the Dice

    Roll the Dice

diceIf you are not willing to ask for what you want, you are automatically accepting the answer no. When we are not pay attention to the “excuses” we give as to why something will not work, you have already set yourself up for failure. Be willing to ask, at least you have a 50/50 chance which is better than a 100% NO.

  • What Are You Bringing?

    What Are You Bringing?

picnicI often hear people say, and I have said it myself, that they want to be invited to the table. My question then is, what are you bringing? In order to get something, one must be willing to give something. You don’t want to be the person invited to a picnic but fail to bring anything to eat. If you are that one, expect not to be invited back.

    Gifted

clear-sense-of-purposeNot everyone is going to support your dream and that’s okay. Everyone is here with a vision or purpose all of their own. When you allow the behavior or emotions of another keep you from your greatness, you are saying that their wants are more important then what you were designed for. You were given the gift of life, what you do with it is your gift back.

    Check Your Gauge

empty-fuel-gauge319Anyone who drives knows that you can’t drive forever on one tank of gas. You have to fuel up in order to keep going. Stopping to take care of yourself is a lot like stopping to refuel. Self care is not selfish, it is necessary. In order to make this journey called life, stop riding on fumes and refuel.

    Take Your Own Advice

mw-be153_advice_20130614173008_mgOne valuable lesson I learned while in the military was, never ask anything of your soldiers you are not willing to do for yourself. Are your actions in alignment with what you are saying? People are not dumb and can pick up on plain “lip-service”. Work to ensure the advice you are willing to dish out to other is the same advice you are willing to take also.

    Support System

tropical-islandSurround yourself with people who keep you motivated and focused. We all have times when we just don’t feel like we can keep going. Having a strong “why” is important and so is having a strong support system in place as well. No man is an island so don’t think you have to go this journey alone.

  • Re-potting Change

    Re-potting Change

houseplants-repottingPlants have to be moved into larger containers as they grow because the roots of the plant become cramped and form a tightly packed mass that inhibits growth. Like plants, as we start to grow, we eventually need to be re-potted. Learn to embrace change. It’s a sign of growth.

    Let Your Voice Be Heard

istock_000016653766small1Everyone has a story to share. I did not learn this valuable lesson until I joined Toastmasters. It takes courage to share but you never know who might need to hear your story or who you might inspire along the way. In the great words of Les Brown, “You have greatness in you.”

  • The Pull

    The Pull

summer-dream-1Let the magnetism of your dream pull forward. I hear so often people say I “have” to do or I “should” be doing but if you allow your dream to pull you, you will find yourself doing things you want to do. The healthy habits you consistently do each day is what will bring you the happiness and the success you are looking for.
