  • Facing Reality

    Facing Reality

Reflections-1With every action there is an equal or opposite reaction. In many instances, so many of us can find fault in the behavior of others but rarely take a moment to ask ourselves “how did my behavior contribute to this?” It was a hard reality for me to face and I didn’t always like the reflection that I got back but I was able to see things in me that I could work on. Change begins from within and we all have the same opportunity to be the change we wish to see.

  • Warning Signals

    Warning Signals

warning-lights4I am an avid walker but I have learned to pay attention to my body’s warning indicator signals like sore knees or pinched nerves. As much as I don’t like to stop walking, I know it’s my body’s way of letting me know I need to slow down. This is the only body I have, and as with anything, to keep it working and functioning the way it needs to, it requires self-care. Take time to relax, renew and refresh yourself, you are worth it.

  • Tough Enough

    Tough Enough

mental-toughnessEveryone will have an opinion of what you should do or what you should not do. When we try to please others the one person who gets hurt in the end is you. The biggest challenge is to keep going in the times of adversity. In times of strife, remember “tough times don’t last, tough people do.” It is all about developing your mental toughness.

  • Only You

    Only You

writing-is-hardWe can be our own worst critics or we can be our own biggest supporter. It comes down to your self-talk. When I started writing, I would find myself saying “I don’t write like any other blogger” so for the longest time, I was afraid to share my writings. I was comparing myself to others. What I come to realize is that it’s not what others think that can make or break us but what we say about yourself to ourselves. Only you can be you!

  • Building Muscles

    Building Muscles

strength-training-workoutsWhen doubt starts to set in, remember why you started in the first place. It’s inevitable to feel like you’re going nowhere, but when you take a moment to reflect back on how far you have come, you will see that you are making headway.

Resistance is always present when you’re moving forward. If your “why” is compelling enough you will be able to push through. Resistance helps to build your endurance muscles.

  • Keep Playing

    Keep Playing

Kids-playing-video-game-97577269My son likes to play the first person games like Call of Duty and Gears of War. I used to play games like Centipede, Q*bert and Pac Man growing up (telling my age).

The key in playing and winning in any game is to gain the necessary skills in order to “rank up” to the next level. If you don’t learn the fundamentals of the game that you are playing, you are not going to last long in playing the game.

No one starts out as an expert but as you learn how to play and build up your garage, your weapons or your gear in the games we play, the better chance you have of winning.

Don’t let life beat you down, build up your skills and your arsenal and keep playing.

  • The Missing Ingredient

    The Missing Ingredient

28057_recipebook-closeupI was never much into cooking and I still not, but I am a little bit more willing to look for new recipe ideas to try. There are so many websites that offer you recipes and tips that there really is no need to have a cookbook any more. You can create your own.

I think the missing ingredient to creating a wonderful life, is the desire to learn. There are books, seminars, classes, websites, etc that are available for you to find in whatever subject you are looking for. Continue to feed your hunger for learning and quench your thirst for knowledge. Strive to be a lifetime learner.

  • Tidbit of Insight

    Tidbit of Insight

tai-chiInsight comes like a tweet, if you are not paying attention you just might miss it.

I was talking with a friend this afternoon and she was sharing that her Tai Chi instructor told the class that if you are having trouble with your physical balance, it’s because your not focused. My friend said she never realized that. I was taken back because my friend is one of the most conscious thinking type person I know. She is my spiritual sister. We both laughed and I told her we’ve discussed this subject before and that she must not have been paying attention and laughed.

What I know in my experience is that whatever it is you are looking for your will surely find. The key is your awareness. Make time to quiet your thoughts each day and everyday you will begin to pick up tidbits of insight that the Universe is trying to share with you.

  • On Your Terms

    On Your Terms

life-on-your-terms-1024x680Quite often we put a hold on our dreams based on the conversation that someone may have said to you that “you can’t do that.” When you hear that phrase “you can’t” it actually means “they can’t” and that is true. Only you can do you with the gifts and talents that are within you. Develop those talents and gifts in order to live the best possible life for you on your terms, not by someone else’s.

  • Cultivate Creativity

    Cultivate Creativity

Do you know that no one has a monopoly on creativity? No one can use up their creativity. Everyone has it and it can be amplified if you choose to incorporate activities that will enhance it. It only takes one creative idea for you to have the success you desire. I would often hear people say when I was a vendor at craft shows, “I wish I was creative” and my reply was, “You are. You just haven’t realized it yet.” Take time to cultivate your creativity.
