    Desires in Bloom

goodwp.com_18212“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke

I love my morning walks especially during the springtime. I think it’s because of the tree blossoms. The blossoms are a sign that what we thought looked dead is actually alive. Spring to me means new beginnings because it’s truly a completely new season during the new year. I love the possibilities that come with new hopes, new dreams, or new beginnings. The walks seem a little bit more invigorating and refreshing. My wish for this new season in life is that each and everyone of you find something that excites, inspires and motivates just as my walks do. Let your desires take bloom.

    Highlights

I wanted to say Happy Friday to everyone today.  As this week winds down I wanted to take a moment and share some of the great moments I had over the week.

On Monday I was able to get my car back from the repair shop. I started having problems with my car’s cooling system in May but I didn’t make getting it a repaired a big priority since I still had my husband’s car to use.  Now that the car is repaired and back on the road, I am able to take my son to school and then head to the park to get my morning walks in.  I love this time of the year because of the leaves turning colors and the cool crisp morning air.  Here is a picture I took of the walking trail.IMG_4676

Since, I take my son to school each morning and we have two lovely dogs, I have the honor of putting them outside each morning. I love watching the sunrise each morning. It’s just a beautiful reminder that each morning is a fresh start, a new beginning.

One of the best things I love to see on my walks is the morning dew dripping from the leaves.IMG_4692

    Don’t Be Scared

Many times during the walk I come across a flock of Canadian Geese.1024px-Geesespokaneriver Most of the time they are on the pond or on the lake.  On a few occasions these birds are close to the walking trail or crossing it.  As I come up on them, my heart starts racing and fear of them attacking me comes to mind.

I had a little run in with these birds a few years ago when I was going into one of my favorite retail shops, I accidentally walked to close to a nesting ground. The male bird started to fly towards me, squawking at me. I knew I was definitely in the wrong place. It frightened me and many of other patrons that tried to enter the shop that day.  Ever since that incident, I try to stay mindful of their presence and respect their space.

Recently, I have decided to give these birds names. IMG_1870My names are not meant to be harmful to these birds in any way. My names are meant as a visual reference for the fears generated in my mind. Instead of the sign saying “Caution Feeding Wildlife Can Be Harmful” I see “Caution Feeding Your Fears Can Be Harmful. For instance, in the picture above, I would name these birds confusion, worry, criticism and doubt. By giving the geese these names, I started learning to recognize the emotions that fear generates inside. By feeling and accepting the racing heart beat and the nervousness that arises, I recognize these are feelings of fear. It’s not that the fear will disappear, it is the fact that I have to feel the fear, breathe and keep on moving.

Life is What you Make of it!

“Life is short, and it’s up to you to make it sweet.” – Sadie Delany

When I startedP1110967 on this spiritual journey, I didn’t even know that’s what it was. I started with taking walks in the park just as a way to relax and unwind from the stresses of life. I was under a lot of financial pressure and sunk really fast. The only relief I found was listening to my music and walking in the park.

I remember when I was much younger, I would say: “Life sucks!” Every time I would say that phrase, a woman I used to work with would say: “Life is what you make of it.”  That was over twenty years ago and during times of struggle, that phrase has become my flotation device.

It’s true that if you change your mindset, it will change your life.

What does this have to do with bees? Well, I used to be afraid of the bees.  After looking at them with a different perspective, I find myself fascinated with watching them lately. I know they are just doing what they are designed to do and they are not paying me no attention.

I love watching the beauty of life unfold today. I believe with all my heart,  Mrs. Brown was right. Life is what you make of it, it’s up to us to us to make it sweet!

    Thank you, Mrs. Brown.
